Upgrades to Tri-City wastewater plant involved major changes to the solids handling process. The initial phase of construction involved the removal from service of a DAFT tank and in its place installing two Andritz 2.0 meter Gravity Belt Thickeners for solids thickening and an Andritz D7LL Centrifuge and associated conveyors for solids dewatering and load out. Separate dry polymer systems for thickening and dewatering were added. Feed, thickened sludge and transfer pumps and grinders were also added to complete the upgrade. The second phase included the digester cleaning and removal of the gas mixing system and an upgrade to chopper mix pumps and associated piping in both existing digesters.
