Colorado Lift Station Upgrades

Bend’s sewer collection system is near capacity. In some areas, existing sewer pipes routinely approach overflow levels. In parts of the city it is difficult for Bend to add any major new employer or residential development. The Colorado Lift Station project upgrades and replaces the undersized and deficient Shevlin station in McKay Park. The new lift station foundation was 25’ deep and required an engineered shoring system. Construction included a dry-well and wet-well consisting of 3 dry sump submersible pumps, which provided a final lift station capacity to 2,800 gallons per minute. The lift station also included a bio filter system and architectural finishes. The improved station relieved critical sewer capacity issues on Bend’s Westside. It is sized to provide capacity for businesses and residents inside the current UGB. The project also included extensive underground piping throughout the heavily congested Old Mill/Downtown districts of Bend.
