The Outfall 27/Sellwood CSO project consists of the construction of a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Facility, the main components included deep excavations and shoring for a new wet well and diversion structure, two 250 HP submersible pumps, a new CMU control building with a green roof that housed electrical equipment and controls, odor treatment equipment, and an emergency backup generator. Additional features included, force main installation, architectural retaining walls, pervious paving, landscaping and fencing. Some of the major challenges on the CSO project included placement and operation of deep dewatering wells, repairs to several hundred feet of the existing river outfall and maintaining continued access for the Portland Rowing Club boathouse community.
