Due to the population growth, large tourist industry, and ongoing environmental concerns, the City of Truckee required a major $53 million upgrade to their existing wastewater treatment plant. This project included excavation of 75,000 CY for multiple structures in a tight existing plant, excavation of over 45,000 CY for more than four miles of pipelines up to 54” in diameter, over 13,000 CY of structural concrete in a harsh climate, installation and startup of over 300 individual pieces of equipment including, pumps, valves, blowers, lime system, filters, silos, and chemical systems. It also included installation of new mechanical and electrical in 30 different new and remolded structures, and integration of the new systems into the extensive existing plant SCADA system.
