Funded by the Lake Oswego-Tigard Partnership, the new fish-friendly water pump station can pump up to 38 MGD, an increase from the 16 MGD capacity of the original intake facility. Its design included a residential façade, improved fencing, high-quality building materials, and native landscaping.
The existing facility was demolished immediately after the water pipeline into the treatment plant was replaced. Benefits to city residents included a new public drinking fountain, new landscaping in Cross Park, and invasive species removal. The Gladstone, OR project kicked off construction in August 2013 on the new seismically resilient river intake system and operational by September 2015.
